Skier’s Thumb, Gamekeeper’s Thumb

The term “skier’s, or gamekeeper’s thumb” refers to a condition in which one undergoes a tear of the Ulnar Collateral Ligament (UCL). As the name suggests, this ailment is seen most often in skiers and occurs when the thumb becomes hyper-extended back towards the wrist or to the side. Common symptoms include pain, swelling, weakness or discoloration of the skin at the base of the thumb.
